Four Mountains Tour

This is a chance to see the valleys from a new perspective..

Start from the Rhondda Heritage park at Porth in the Rhondda Fawr. From there head south to Tonyrefail. Then take the A4093  to Ogmore Vale. Once there head north on the A4061 to Treorchy,

The drive from Nant Y Moel to Treorchy  has some spectacular views. From the top of Bwlch Y Clawdd you can see the county of Somerset across the Bristol Channel in the south west. Turn north and on a clear day you can see the Brecon Beacons .

When in Treorchy head further up the valley to Treherbert. From there keep going north and follow the signs which direct you to Hirwaun. This ten mile journey will give you some great views of the Rhondda Fawr and the 'Seven Sisters' in the the Brecon Beacon range. On the other side as you travel down to the Cynon Valley you'll pass the World Famous Tower Colliery. There are parking areas on route..

From Hirwaun on the A4059 head for Aberdare. Once there head for the A4233 which will take you to  Maerdy. This is another great drive with views of the Cynon valley and the Rhondda Fach.

From Maerdy  head for Tylorstown on the A4233. The B4512 leads to Pen Rhys. There are parking places on the first left off the roundabout in that locale. Great views all around.

From there head down towards Ystrad, turn left at the bottom and back to Porth on the A4058.

This is a great day out. Don't leave without your camera.

If you like to cycle, best be fit.

Every road is a twisting ascent and descent; It's a day you will not forget. Remember to  journey on a clear day if possible. Winter offers crisp and clear views
